Dr Chris Walton

Clinical Lead for Diabetes

Consultant Diabetologist at Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Dr Chris Walton is a graduate of Newcastle medical school whose postgraduate training included time in Leeds and Manchester. Dr Walton has been a Consultant in Hull since 1987 and his previous roles include Associate Medical Director Hull and East Yorkshire, and Yorkshire Regional Training Programme Director for Diabetes and Endocrinology.He works within the Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Hospitals Trust where he provides community diabetes services, and chairs the Hull and East Yorkshire Diabetes Network Board. He was Chair of Association of British Clinical Diabetologists between May 2011 and May 2014 having previously served as Treasurer. He took up post as Clinical Lead for Diabetes within the Yorkshire and Humber Cardiovascular Strategic Clinical Network in November 2013.


Clare MacArthur

Quality Improvement Lead

Clare joined the Diabetes Clinical Network in June 2019 as Quality Improvement Lead for Diabetes. She is facilitating development of workstreams across Yorkshire and the Humber including Diabetes in Pregnancy, and the Inpatient Service Improvement Network. Additionally, Clare will be working with Humber Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership; is involved in the Diamonds research for people with diabetes and severe mental illness and is supporting work on a pre-hospital hypoglycaemia pathway. Prior to working in the Clinical Network, Clare was a diabetes specialist nurse in Northallerton and York, and a lecturer/practitioner in diabetes at the University of York. She is based at the Quarry House office in Leeds.
