Marie Hancock, Network Manager

Marie has worked for the NHS for over 20 years with a clinical background in nursing. Prior to joining the Clinical Network, she worked in public health, medicines management, oncology research, in the NHSE National Palliative and End of Life Team for three years and as a commisioner of end of life services in Hull CCG and Doncaster CCG. In her current role as Network Manager within the Network she is part of the senior management team.

Lucy Lowery

I am a Consultant and Clinical Lead in Specialist Palliative Care in North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.  My clinical role involves working in community, acute hospital, and hospice settings. My areas of interest are medical ethics, and improving access to palliative care services for all patients irrespective of diagnosis.  I have a Masters degree in 'Medical Ethics and Palliative Care'.

Deborah Penfold

I am a GP in Bradford with a particular focus on Palliative Care, Care Homes and Complex Care for housebound patients. I am the Clinical Lead for Palliative and End of Life Care for Bradford Districts and Craven CCG. I am one of two Clinical Leads for Palliative and End of Life Care for West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (ICS).

Michelle Muir

As a nurse I am a Clinical Leader with over 25 years NHS Healthcare expereince the vast majority of this expereince has been in a large Acute and Community Foundation Trust before moving to the voluntary hospice sector. Having both an NHS Leadership Award and a Masters in Healthcare Leadership.

I started my career studying and then working in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I then moved back to the North East and have worked within Northumberland, County Durham, and Tyneside. I have expereince working not only in Acute and Community Services but in reaching into Mental Health, smaller Distrinct General Hospital, Care Homes and Univeristy. I currently lead services covering North Yorkshire within the voluntary sector as Director of Clinical Services at Saint Catherine's Hospice Scarborough, as well as being one of the Clinical Leads for Palliative Care and End of Life for the North East and Yorkshire Strategic Clinical Network. I believe this brings a broad knowledge and expereince of the North East and Yorkshire geographical footprint, services and partners in this region.


Helen Turner

I qualified as a Nurse in 1999 and a District Nurse in 2004 and have been passionate about delivering a high standard of palliative and End of Life care throughout my career. Currently work within Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation trust as an Associate Chief Nurse for within the community and therapy division.  I lead on the EoL improvements across the trust and I am passionate about delivering high standards of patient care, supporting staff to develop and maintaining high professional nursing standards.
